At Parsons Green we value partnerships with parents/carers and the wider community.
If you would like to volunteer in the school please get in touch with us and we can take you through our safer recruitment process for volunteers which will require completing a PVG. (Protection of Vulnerable Persons Scheme)
Opportunities for Volunteering
We regularly have parents and volunteers in the school, helping on a weekly basis e.g. in the library, in classrooms, running the tuck shop, sharing skills, running clubs
Sometimes parents help out occasionally, e.g. fundraising events, gardening groups, school trips
Whatever you are able to offer, you will find a warm welcome from the Parsons Green School Community. Please come and have a chat!
We are also very happy to support people considering a career in education, please look at the Volunteering Pack on the link below:

Partnerships with the Wider Community
We are keen to develop partnerships within our community. If you are an employer, involved in a local business or a creative entrepreneur, writer, artist, storyteller, computer programmer, engineer, scientist or have skills that you may be prepared to share, please get in touch. We regularly engage in partnerships for learning e.g. P5 undertook a successful project writing haikus inspired by their local area with the help of the artist, Twig. Pupils painted a friendship mural on a playground wall with the support of one of our Artist parents. Pupils througout the school and nursery benefit from community members, parents, friends and family sharing information about their jobs and careers. We alternate a Career Fair with a Financial Education/Money Week Focus to raise the profile of Careers.
We have partnerships with our local Parish Church of Willowbrae and with Dr Neill’s Garden at Duddingston Kirk, the Holyrood Ranger Service and Greenspace, a local care home and with Duddingston Community. We are taking part in a joint inter-generational project with the local community council and P7 pupils from both Royal High Primary and Parsons Green. We would love to have more. This will help us to provide opportunities for our young people to develop skills for learning, life and work. Please get in touch!
