Contribute your creativity to Cards for Kindness
Help reduce loneliness in older people during COVID-19 by sending a message of hope. Cards for Kindness is an initiative which aims to reduce loneliness in our care homes by encouraging people to make a card for local care home residents.
So, get creative with the materials you already have at home, or see what you can pick up whilst you’re shopping for necessary supplies, and draw a card or picture to cheer someone up.
As part of your daily exercise you can drop off your cards / drawings / postcards to Co-op Member Pioneer Lara at 29 Lismore Crescent (post through letterbox) and she’ll pass them onto the local care home residents at Milford House.
Take a look at this video to see how much cards and pictures are appreciated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c2tVgscH2Qto
It’s always lovely to receive a card and it often sparks conversation and encourages residents to talk to each other. Research shows this has many health benefits, especially for people living with dementia.
