Parsons Green Playground Appeal: final sprint!

29th April 2026

Between now and the end of June is our final sprint to fund a playground upgrade that we hope will last the next 20+ years.

Will you support us?

Dear parents, carers, friends, family and neighbours of Parsons Green Primary School,

Since 2024 the Parent Council and the teachers and staff at Parsons Green Primary School have been bringing together our school community of families, individuals and businesses to fund a major upgrade to our playground and broader grounds that our children use every day.

With the support of the school, we have consulted broadly with pupils, parents and the community to design this project and set our goals, outlined here: Parsons Green Playground Upgrade Levels

The direct school community has already contributed £12,000, and we have additionally ear-marked nearly £3k grant funding toward the project. We also secured pro bono consultancy to ensure our project brings benefits for wildlife, is climate resilient, and helps our pupils establish a strong relationship with nature.

Parents have also volunteered their time to engage with approved suppliers to get direct quotes, and also with the City of Edinburgh Council to make sure we’re in their plans for installation during the immediately coming school year, 2026-27.

We’re now in the final sprint. Between now and the end of June is our final chance to boost our funds to unlock a transformation to our grounds and play equipment that we intend to last for the next 20+ years.

I’m writing now to ask: will you support us?

DONATE NOW TO THE PLAYGROUND FUND via bank transfer:

Account Name: PARSONS GREEN PARENTS COUNCIL
Sort-Code: 80-02-87
Account Number: 00707398
(Bank of Scotland)
Reference: PLAYGROUND

On behalf of the ~250 pupils and families at Parsons Green Primary School, thank you for your consideration and generosity.

With best wishes,

Hilary Roberts
Chair, Parsons Green Parent Council

What’s better than a bottle tombola?
In past years we’ve often held a bottle tombola where you could win wine, or perhaps shampoo or lovely toiletries (in bottles!)  This year, instead of the tombola we’d like to invite you to donate unopened toiletries in support of Edinburgh Women’s Aid. Simply bring any of these items to the fair and we’ll get them to women and children in need: Sealed toiletry items e.g. soap, toothpaste, haircare, skincare, makeup, wipes, deodorant etc.

Support the Fair!

We have a few specific asks in case you can help support the Fair:

Baked goods
We’d love donations of baked goods to be sold at the bake sale. Please bring these on the day on Saturday! Please remember that all baking must be nut-free and we’re grateful if you can label them for any allergens.

Rainbow Hampers
We’re asking all classes to donate items for our Rainbow Hampers which can be won in the raffle. Please bring in a gift item according to the colour for your year; items do not need to be new if it will still make someone smile!

  • P7: RED items
  • P6: ORANGE items
  • P5: YELLOW items
  • P4: LIGHT GREEN items
  • P3: LIGHT BLUE items
  • P2: DARK BLUE items
  • P1: PURPLE items
  • Nusery: PINK items

Please drop off hamper items at the school from Monday – Thursday, 24th – 27th November.

Jumble sale
We’re seeking good quality and complete pre-loved books, toys and games for our Jumble Sale at the winter fair. Please note, jumble sale items can only be dropped off Thur-Sat, 27th-29th November due to storage constraints at the school.

Raffle prizes
If anyone would like to be featured in our raffle by donating a prize, glad to hear from you! It’s a fantastic way to get visibility for you business and to contribute to the community. Contact Hilary Roberts in the whatsapp community or via the school.

Unopened toiletries in support of Edinburgh Women’s Aid
As mentioned above, we’re also collecting unopened toileties in support of Edinburgh Women’s Aid. Simply bring any of these items to the fair and we’ll get them to women and children in need: Sealed toiletry items e.g. soap, toothpaste, haircare, skincare, makeup, wipes, deodorant etc.

Final note that EVERYONE IS WELCOME at the Parsons Green Winter Fair, not just those with children in the school! We especially welcome families whose children have not yet started at Parsons Green and our friends and neighbours in Willowbrae and nearby neighbourhoods.
