Play is fundamental to children and young people’s quality of life (Scottish Government, 2013) but first and foremost it is a child’s right. At Parsons Green Primary School, we support children’s right to play in line with Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and we recognise that all children have the right to participate in play activities and experiences.
Through extensive and on-going CPD, we also know that play can provide a more developmentally appropriate approach to learning and teaching across Primary 1 and Primary 2 and are proud that play is now part of our learning in P1 and P2 at PG.
